Please meet my great friend, Doug from Houston, MN with an exceptional Muskegon river brown trout that absolutely slammed his fly on the second cast of the morning. Congratulations on such an incredible native Muskegon river brown trout Doug! Welcome to the Muskegon river my friend!
I’ve said it before and will continue to say it again …. ever since the Michigan DNR have raised the keep length to 15-inches on the Muskegon river the size and quantity of these native Muskegon river brown trout continue to get better every year and Doug’s river brown is the perfect evidence.
What use to be the “Holy Grail” of a one in a million 20-inch river brown on the Muskegon is now a type of common place with several Muskegon river browns pushing the 20-inch mark and beyond. These amazing river browns are just part of what makes the Muskegon river such a special world-class salmon, trout, and steelhead river.
Salmon continue to enter the river system despite the warm low water temps. Just a push of water and cold nights is all that’s needed to kick the salmon run in full gear!
