18-Pounds & 32-Inches Of Twisted Chrome Steel!

18-Pounds & 32-Inches Of Twisted Chrome Steel!
(Tom with an absolute bruiser of a Muskegon River Fall Steelhead!)

Here’s Tom from Chicago with a “wall-hanger” of a Muskegon River steelhead!  What started out as an introduction to fresh water big game fly fishing quickly turned into a trial by fire as Tom hooked into this mammoth steelhead within the first few casts of the first spot we started.

To say this steelhead fought hard would be an understatement.  The steelhead struck Tom’s swung fly with a vengeance erupting out of the water with an arial assault that would have brought the most experienced fly angler to their knees.

Tom handled the hook set with precision and kept the steelhead hooked up through endless aerial jumps and blistering drag screaming runs bringing Tom into the backing on his fly reel several times.  Can’t give Tom enough credit for handling the fight so well only to bring this monster to the net!  Congrats Tom!  Welcome to the reason why people say “The Tug Is the Drug” on these magnificent fresh water big game Muskegon River steelhead!  Hope this one is just the first one of many more to come on your fly fishing journey my friend!

And to think this is Tom’s very first steelhead he ever caught and it weighed in at 18-pounds and 32-inches is absolutely amazing!  Congrats again Tom on such an amazing steelhead!

(Tom’s massive steelhead)

Fall steelhead fishing on the Muskegon River is heating up as more steelhead continue to enter the river system making way for some very exciting fall steelhead fishing yet to come!
