Here’s todd from Indiana with a really nice king salmon from his half day trip yesterday.
I think Todd will agree; it’s one thing to hook one of these monster king salmon, it’s by far another thing to land them. These kings will bring you into your backing in seconds. The pure power these fish possess is absolutely incredible. For what these 2016 class kings may be lacking in numbers they are making up for it in sheer size. Plan on going up in line size and hook size to bring these pure beasts to the boat.
Water levels are normal for this time of year holding around 1,300 to 1,600 cfs. The problem as of the past few weeks has been the water temps. This has been a very warm early fall mixed with a lot of sunlight and lack of heavy rain. Water temps are finally lowering to the 60 degree point. The next burst of cold weather and rain in the forecast is what’s needed to improve the salmon run on the Muskegon river.
