I don’t know what’s better? Getting a few hours in to fish, multiple hook-ups, lack of boat traffic, epic battles with chrome so strong they kick your ass in seconds……or all the above? I choose, all the above!!
Don’t let this current arctic blast of cold weather get you down. Once the water temps dip below 40 degrees steelhead fishing gets easier. They conjugate in deep pools or slow moving runs. Instead of being anywhere and everywhere in the river they consolidate into key spots easily targeted. Water temps have been dropping rapidly. 50 degrees the start of the week and 45 degrees 4 days later. Look for the current trend of cold water to continue making the steelhead seek out their winter lies.
