Felt great to finally have a chance to break away and do some winter steelhead fishing on the Muskegon landing chrome beauties like this one in late December.
Steelhead are poised throughout the river from the lower stretches of Anderson Flats to the upper reaches of Croton Dam. This recent warm-up has kept water levels perfect holding around 1900 cfs with a light stain.
The key to success for us is covering a lot of water and taking time to fish the run thoroughly covering as much area as you can. Steelhead are on the move it’s purely a matter of patients working each hole until you find the pockets of fish.
Check out this beautiful rainbow trout caught on the inward bend of a very deep pool. Great to see trout like this hanging out with the steelhead in their winter lies.
Wanted to send a special thank you out to the clients I’ve had the great fortune to guide in 2018. There were a lot of great people who caught outstanding fish over the year that created some epic memories I won’t soon forget. Thank you for the continued support in 2018! From my family to yours, we wish you nothing but the best New Year and a very Happy Holiday Season! Thank you!!
